Here’s something you probably didn’t know your iPhone could do: display movies in 3D.

Actually, it can’t quite yet. But a company called Spatial View is launching an online 3D movie store, 3DeeCentral, and it has submitted an app that grants access to it for review by Apple.

• Un nouveau modèle d’affaires: une priorité (cc @Lecho ) – Ce n’est pas tous les jours que l’on s’attaque à son modèle d’affaires. Certains managers ne l’ont peut-être jamais soumis à un examen critique. Les résultats enregistrés par la plupart des entreprises étaient en effet très satisfaisants, voire excellents ces dernières années. Et la tempête de ces 18 derniers mois n’a guère permis de réflexion sur le fond. Mais à présent que le calme revient, on constate que l’environnement s’est transformé. • Universities adapting to new breed of journalism student – “The students who are choosing to study this field now are choosing it with their eyes much more wide open,” said Bob Stewart, associate director for undergraduate studies for Ohio University’s E.W. Scripps School of Journalism. “One of our goals is to help students … understand learning is going to be a constant. After several years of assessing the general online presence of the top 100 U.S. newspapers, this year we decided to produce a study specifically about how newspapers and journalists are utilizing Twitter as a way of promoting their content and interacting with readers.
• YouTube video leads to $30 million Hollywood contract – A producer from Uruguay who uploaded a short film to YouTube in November 2009 has been offered a $30m (£18.6m) contract to make a Hollywood film.
  The movie will be sponsored by director Sam Raimi, whose credits include the Spiderman and Evil Dead films.
  Fede Alvarez’s short film “Ataque de Panico!” (Panic Attack!) featured giant robots invading and destroying Montevideo, the capital of Uruguay.
  It is 4 mins 48 seconds long and was made on a budget of $300 (£186).

• Facebook Reaches 100 Million Monthly Active Users in the USA (via @steverubel ) – Facebook just crossed the 100 million active user mark in the United States — actually, more like 100.5 million, according to Facebook’s advertiser tools. That’s nearly one third of the total US population logging into Facebook each month.
• Real Time Search Comes to Google! – Google is finally rolling out its long-awaited real-time search option.The search engine will now include some results in real-time on its main results page.

  “Our users will get the results as they are produced,” said Google fellow Amit Singhal at an event in Mountain View in California.

  How it works? Well, a search for “Obama” would include a constantly updated listing of the “latest results” on Obama pulled from live tweets, Yahoo Answers, news articles, and web pages. Click “pause” and the listing stops refreshing.

The plan is to roll out Internet measurement to National People Meter households starting December 23, 2009 and finishing by August 31, 2010 (sooner than had originally been proposed to clients).

• Social media ‘could transform public services’ (BBC News) – Social media could transform the NHS and other public services in the same way that file-sharing changed the music industry, a conference has heard.
  Growing use of tools, such as Facebook and Twitter, offered an opportunity to reinvent services, delegates heard.
  The MyPublicServices event debated ways to harness these conversations, many of which are critical, to make services better and more inclusive.
  If this was not done, many services would be undermined, speakers said.

They’ve gotten nowhere reaching out to me directly (more on that below), so now they’ve tried complaining to the Washington Post, which has syndicated our content since 2008. The Washington Post stood firm beside us today and kept our original post as written. Good for them.
• Beet.TV: Adobes CTO Kevin Lynch: Video Content will be Soon be Created for the Mobile Device first – With smart phone sales outpacing PC sales, mobile devices represent “the future of media” and video producers will soon begin to produce videos for the small screen first,in a “total reversal” of platform-specific programming, says Kevin Lynch, Chief Technology Officer of Adobe Systems.
• Twitter.jp Soon to Introduce Premium Accounts (by @vidyesh ) – Twitter Japan had always been isolated from rest of the Twitter Global herd. Earlier Twitter japan had launched the Twitvideo service and is the only country to have different services compared to its parent company. With ad rates ranging from US$5,500 to $33,000 for a customized page and banner and additional initial fees, the site also charges advertisers for targeted exposure to relevant groups making Japan the only country which runs a ad-enabled Twitter service and shows tremendous profit.

A BBC Radio 3 newsreader was forced to read the morning headlines from her mobile phone after the Corporation’s telephone and computer system crashed as she was about to go on air.The cool actions of experienced newsreader Alison Rooper, who has frequently presented the news on Radio 4′s Today programme and the World Service, meant that listeners were unaware of the glitch, although colleagues are fuming at the latest flaws in the BBC’s technology.

• Ikea campaign innovation on Facebook breaks new ground (via @pierre_bonte ) – Facebook members were then encouraged to request Gordon as a friend. The first to tag themselves to a specific item in each showroom photo then won that particular Ikea product.As each Facebook user tagged themselves, news of the action also appeared on their news feed, creating a viral effect as the campaign was shared between friends and was spread across thousands of different profile pages.

• Je peux pas là, j’ai cours de Twitter (@sayseal ) – Au début de l’année scolaire, l’annonce que plusieurs universités américaines lançaient des «Cours de Twitter» a bien fait rire certaines rédactions. Mais après avoir vu un journaliste d’ABC annoncer sur Twitter que Barack Obama avait traité le rappeur Kanye West de «jackass», et surtout après les nouvelles règles données par le Washington Post à ses journalistes quant à l’utilisation des médias sociaux, le cours ne parait plus aussi risible.
• NPR Launches New Online Local Journalism Venture With CPB and Knight Foundation Funding – (via @mgallivan ) – The new funding – $2 million from CPB and $1 million from Knight Foundation – provides a pilot group of NPR stations with the resources to expand original reporting, and to curate, distribute and share online content about high-interest, specialized subjects. It is the first time that CPB and Knight Foundation have jointly funded a project of this type.
• Journalists Become Trainers & Coaches for Local Communities – Editors Weblog – Community newspapers have been around for decades, but there are several innovations, in addition to the news cafes, that make PPF’s Nase Adresa project different: About a third of the content is provided by local communities – fishermen, firemen, mothers with young children etc. – but none of it goes into the paper or websites without input from a journalist, called a “community manager.”
